It is something common if people abandon or just forget basement as the art of the house too. Actually, if we can make it right, basement could family’s favorite room which will give you additional space for sure. So, just in case you now realized how basement can be transformed into such useful space, let’s find out how to frame a basement in order to make it a proper place for living! There are many things which we can do with basement; we can use them as a room, entertainment room, music studio, and other purposes.
a. Make sure you know how big the basement is. This is aimed to avoid miss stepping. To know that, make a measurement using chalk for making it easier. Make sure that your basement has been measured diagonally.
b. Get your floor plates cut out of 2 x 4s. Then get them secured to the floor on the chalk lines that you have created using lead anchors or cut nails.
c. Get your door opening laid where needed. Get that cut out of your floor plates when framing the basement. Get the top plates cut matching to the floor plates. Get your studs layout on 16-inch centers on the floor plates’ top and bottom.
d. After that, get your studs nailed to the top plate. Get your walls raised. Now, get them secured to the plate’s bottom. Get your walls plumbed and then get them secured to your house’s floor joists.
e. Get your project of framing your basement finished by getting the block/ concrete walls stripped using 1 x 4s. Get this 1 x4 applied to your wall’s top and bottom. Get 1 x 4 added on the 16 inch centers across the walls. Get the lock around windows (if you have it) so that they can be finished.
