Painting concrete floors is a good way to refinish, seal, or protect the floor. Knowing how to paint concrete floors will show the difference between people who know style and just creating a mess. So, let’s get the painted concrete floors.
First, as usual, you will need to gather the required tools and materials. You going to need a stir sticks, a couple of 2-1/2-inch synthetic angled sash brush, a telescoping extension pole, two roller covers, a roller cage, a 5-in-1 tool, a roller tray and liners. You also need a main and a finish paint.
Here are some tips in picking the materials. Don’t use regular interior paint or deck paint because it is only for wood. We suggest you to use Behr’s 1-part epoxy concrete and as the alternative, garage floor paint. Before you start painting make sure that the surface of the floor is completely dry.
Any moist or humidity will destroy the result. So, be careful. After that, you can apply two coats of special paint for concrete as the primer and let it dry for 24 hours. In the next day after it dried, you can start to apply the epoxy.
Don’t forget to use the paint brush. Start painting from the end of the room, from opposite of the entrance. You can use the roller. You can either pour the paint on the floor and use roller tray and liners. Wait at least 12 hours so it will dry and apply the second coat. After you finish paint the entire floor, we suggest you to wait 7 days before you can walk on it or put any furniture. Well, some say that it only 72 hours, but the longer time, the better the result. Well, painted concrete floor, a little bit difficult, but if you like you can use this as a nice project!
